I walked into the large school building with my father at my side. He looked down at me, a large smile plastered on his face. I stepped up the concrete steps that led to the school. We walked through the halls, making a few turns here and there. I was practically shaking with nervousness.
I took a deep breath as we entered the classroom. There was only one other kid in the room along with his mom and the teacher. He was different then most of the kids I've seen. He had a light brown skin tone with darker brown hair and wore a tan long-sleeve shirt and brown pants and he had slightly bucked teeth.
I felt a little push on my back and looked up. My dad was smiling down at me.
"Go ahead. Introduce yourself." he encouraged me.
I toddled towards the boy. "Hi, I-I'm Jessica." The boy looked up at who I presumed was his mum and she gave him an encouraging smile.
He moved out from behind his mother's leg a little bit more. "I am Sammy."
"You're voice is different. I like it." I smiled at Sammy.
"I am from India."
"Cool! Where's that?"
Sammy smiled. "All the way across the ocean." He said, placing his arm on my back and moved his other arm for emphasis.
I formed my mouth into an 'O' shape. "Ooh! That sounds far."
Sammy nodded. "It is." and took his arm off of me. "Who's your friend?" he asked, noticing the stuffed bunny I was holding.
"Oh, this is Hopsy Mopsy." I smiled down at the blue rabbit. "He's my best friend."
Sammy smiled. "Can I be your best friend also?" he asked.
I looked up at the boy shocked, then smiled. "Totally."
